About Jomel · based in New Zealand

We are immigration advisers. We were also once the children on the outbound flight.

And once the parents at home, waiting up for the message saying they had landed safely.

Who We Are

Started by one family, for the next

Jomel did not begin as a business plan.

Our own family went through it first — the move, the change of school, putting a child into a classroom where he understood not one word, then waiting each day to see whether he came home smiling or silent.

What we wanted most in those years was for someone who had already done it to sit down and explain it from the beginning. What would happen and what wouldn't; when to worry and when not to.

In the end we became that person.

Jomel today is two entities. In New Zealand,Jomel Limitedin Albany, Auckland, where professional opinions are given by IAA-licensed immigration advisers and a High Court lawyer. In Taiwan,紐西蘭主恩顧問有限公司, registered as an emigration agency with the National Immigration Agency (C0346).

We cover investor and skilled migration, employer sponsorship and family categories, along with study planning from primary school to postgraduate and settling in on arrival. Most families end up using two or three of these, which is why we map the whole route at the first consultation.

Our People

The New Zealand immigration advisers who take your call are the ones who stayed

Some grew up here. Some came at secondary school and lived through the first year of not following the lesson, and the slow adjustment to a homestay. Some finished university in Auckland and found their first job.

All of them stayed. The classroom, the homestay, the first lease negotiated alone — we have each been through them.

So when you ask how to choose a homestay, whether your child will keep up in the first year, or how to read an NCEA report — we can answer. We asked the same questions ourselves, one at a time.

It's also why we start from your child's temperament rather than a league table. Rankings you can look up. Whether a school suits them, you can't.

Qualifications

Independently verifiable

Before entrusting a firm with your child and your savings, you should be able to establish who they are. All three appear on official registers; the numbers are set out here.

Support

Division of responsibility, stated plainly

More moving parts are involved between deciding and arriving than most people expect. Here is what we do ourselves and what partners carry out.

BY OUR TEAM

Handled by our own team

  • Immigration cases Two IAA-licensed advisers (Full and Provisional); every case reviewed by both
  • Legal review A High Court lawyer, on source of funds and contracts
  • School selection and applications An Education New Zealand accredited adviser, with over a hundred partner schools
  • Viewing properties We attend, film and report, so you can decide from overseas
  • Lease and moving in The lease explained clause by clause, furniture and appliances selected, utilities connected
  • Document process Arranging and tracking translation, notarisation, certification and medicals
  • Follow-up after term starts Liaising with the school and reporting on how your child is settling
PARTNERS

Carried out by long-standing partners

  • Homestays Matched by the school to the child; we confirm the requirements and liaise with the school
  • Transfers and airport pickup Carried out by a partner transport company; we arrange it and confirm on the day

These two aren't done by us, and we say so — so you know who to call if something goes wrong, and who is coordinating.

Why spell this outMany agencies present the whole package as “we do all of it” when in fact there are two or three hands in between. Setting out what is ours and what is a partner's is what makes “no third party in between” honest — it meansthe point of contact and responsibility doesn't change hands, not that one person physically does everything.
Still comparing agencies?Six things are worth settling before you send your child: how to check credentials, how fees work, how schools are chosen, what happens on arrival day, who follows up after term starts, and who you call when something goes wrong. Our answers — including what we can't do — are on one page.

Why Jomel

The Team

Who actually handles your case

An investor visa is a financial matter as much as an immigration one. The source-of-funds trail runs through company shareholdings, asset disposals and tax records — more than an immigration adviser alone can carry. That is why we have both licensed advisers and a lawyer.

How We Work

Three standards we hold to

01

Every application reviewed by two advisers

An investor file is several times the size of an ordinary visa application, and a single inconsistency can trigger a request for more information — each of which costs weeks. Two reviewers exist to find those inconsistencies before it's filed.

02

No promised outcomes, and no cases we don't believe in

Under the IAA code of conduct, a licensed adviser may not promise an approval. Any guarantee of success is worth a follow-up question. What we can promise is an application good enough to file, and an honest account of the risk.

03

Local presence, verifiable

The office is in Albany, Auckland, but the work isn't confined to Auckland — our partner schools span both islands. School visits can be arranged, we view houses in person on your behalf, and we furnish them. These things require someone actually being here.

In the Media
